WorkPlay:
Divide & Conquer

Ideal for isolating work and personal use, each in its own hardware-separated operating system on a single smartphone.

Available nowZero Trust, multi-domainBuilt on a Bittium smartphone

How WorkPlay works

WorkPlay provides two or three complete, independent operating systems on a single CPU. Each operating system is isolated and inaccessible from the others, preventing cross-contamination between them. Switching between operating systems takes just seconds, and each one resumes where it left off. WorkPlay is created by a firmware modification with relatively small code.

Each operating system works as a typical, complete device. One is active at a time while the others are placed in sleep mode, ready to resume on switching back. Even if a user is lured into giving up network access credentials, the inherent Zero Trust nature of the WorkPlay multi-domain approach prevents a hacker from accessing the network from another operating system.

WorkPlay technical overview

Why hardware separation

We developed WorkPlay to eliminate the inherent architectural vulnerability of shared resources: the risk that internet-borne malware can reach the kernel (or other resources) and take over the user’s device to obtain the escalated privileges needed to enter connected networks.

Software-based products, such as containers and other dual-persona approaches, do not eliminate this vulnerability. WorkPlay does.

The adage

“Don't mix business and pleasure”

has never been more important than for separating business and personal use on mobile devices and preventing cross-contamination.
